【摘要】:Moisture,asdeterminedbytheinstrumentaltestmethod,isusedforcalculatingotheranalyticalresultstoamoisture-freebasisusingproceduresinPracticeD3180.Moisturepercentdeterminedbythistestmethodmaybeusedinconjunctionwiththeair-drymoisturelossdeterminedinMethodD2013andTestMethodD3302todeterminetotalmoistureincoal.Totalmoistureisusedforcalculatingotheranalyticalresultstoanas-receivedbasisusingPracticeD3180.Ashyield,asdeterminedbythistestmethod,istheresidueremainingafterburningthecoalandcokesamples.Volatilematteryield,whendeterminedashereindescribed,maybeusedto(1)establishtherankofcoals,(2)indicatecokeyieldoncarbonization,(3)providethebasisforpurchasingandselling,or(4)establishburningcharacteristics.Fixedcarbonisacalculatedvalue.Itisthedifferencebetween100andthesumofthepercentmoisture,ash,andvolatilematter.Allpercentsshallbeonthemoisturereferencebase.Moisture,ash,volatilematter,andfixedcarbonpercentsconstitutetheproximateanalysisofcoalandcoke.Note18212;Theashobtaineddiffersincompositionandamountfromthemineralconstituentspresentintheoriginalcoal.Incinerationcausesanexpulsionofallwater,thelossofcarbondioxidefromcarbonates,theconversionofironpyriteintoironoxidesandsulfuroxides,andotherchemicalreactions.Ashyield,asdeterminedbythistestmethod,candifferfromtheamountofashproducedinfurnaceoperationsorothercombustionsystemsbecauseincinerationconditionsinfluencethechemistryandamountofash.1.1Theseinstrumentaltestmethodscoverthedeterminationofmoisture,volatilematter,andash,andthecalculationoffixedcarbonintheanalysisofcoalandcokesamplespreparedinaccordancewithMethodD2013andPracticeD346.ResultsobtainedthroughtheuseoftheinstrumentaltestshavebeenshowntodifferfromthoseobtainedwithTestMethodsD3173,D3174,andD3175onsomecoalsandcokes.WherearelativebiasbetweentheinstrumentalmethodsandTestMethodsD3173,D3174,andD3175forproximateanalysisofcoalandcokeareshowntoexist,theinstrumentalresultsshallbecorrectedortheinstrumentcalibratedusingsamplesofknownproximateanalysis.TestMethodsD3173,D3174,andD3175shallbeconsideredtherefereetestmethods.Theinstrumentaltestmethodsarenotapplicabletothermogravimetricanalyzersusingmicrogramsizesamples.1.2Themoisturevaluedeterminedisusedforcalculatingotheranalyticalresultstoadrybasis.Whenusedinconjunctionwiththeairdrylossmoisture,asdeterminedinaccordancewithMethodD2013,TestMethodD3302,orPracticeD346,thecalculatedtotalmoisturecanbeusedtoconvertdrybasisanalyticalresultstotheas-receivedbasis.1.3Theresultoftheashdeterminationscanbeappliedintheultimateanalysis,PracticeD3176.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
