【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedforuseasaguideincasesinwhichanexperimentaldeterminationofheatofcombustionisnotavailableandcannotbemadeconveniently,andinwhichanestimateisconsideredsatisfactory.Itisnotintendedasasubstituteforexperimentalmeasurementsofheatofcombustion(seeNote2).Note28212;TheproceduresfortheexperimentaldeterminationofthenetheatofcombustionaredescribedinTestMethodsD240andD4809.Thenetheatofcombustionisafactorintheperformanceofallaviationfuels.Becausetheexhaustofaircraftenginescontainsuncondensedwatervapors,theenergyreleasedbyfuelinvaporizingwatercannotberecoveredandmustbesubtractedfromgrossheatofcombustion.Forhighperformanceweight-limitedaircraft,thenetheatofcombustionperunitmassandthemassoffuelloadeddeterminethetotalsaferange.Theproperoperationoftheaircraftenginealsorequiresacertainminimumnetenergyofcombustionperunitvolumeoffueldelivered.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheestimationofthenetheatofcombustion(specificenergy)atconstantpressureinSIunits,megajoulesperkilogram,fromthefueldensity,sulfur,andhydrogencontent.1.2Thistestmethodispurelyempirical,anditisapplicableonlytoliquidhydrocarbonfuelsderivedbynormalrefiningprocessesfromconventionalcrudeoilthatconformtotherequirementsofspecificationsforaviationturbinefuelsoflimitedboilingrangesandcompositions,asdescribedinNote0andpermittedbyeachspecification.Note0Theestimationoftheheatofcombustionofahydrocarbonfuelfromitshydrogencontent,density,andsulfurisjustifiableonlywhenthefuelbelongstoawell-definedclassforwhicharelationshipbetweenthesequantitieshasbeenderivedfromaccurateexperimentalmeasurementsonrepresentativesamplesofthatclass.Eveninthisclass,thepossibilitythattheestimatescanbeinerrorbylargeamountsforindividualfuelsshouldberecognized.Theclassesoffuelsusedtoestablishthecorreclationpresentedinthistestmethodarerepresentedbythefollowingspecifications:1.3TheheatofcombustioncanalsobeestimatedbyTestMethodsD1405,D3338,andD4529.
